Thursday, August 9, 2018

Four new beer licenses were approved at the Thursday morning meeting of the Chattanooga Beer Board. “State of Confusion,” 301 Main St., a new restaurant, was named after the junk business previously located at that address. It is scheduled to open on Aug. 20. Owners include seven people experienced in the restaurant and brewing business, including Stir, Big River Grill, and Square One, which owns a network of restaurants.

George Lewallen who worked at Tremont Tavern for 10 years, representing the owners, said they had been approached by developers of Cameron Harbor to re-create a neighborhood bar similar to Tremont Tavern. They jumped at the chance to run the business that will have close to 2,000 residents that are in walking distance from the front door, said Mr. Lewallen. Down the road, he said the Pourhouse may sell take-out growlers.

Miller’s Ale House, 2119 Gunbarrel Road, is located in the old Logan’s Roadhouse location. Miller’s will be a sports bar as well as a restaurant. It considers itself a neighborhood, community gathering place. This is the chain’s first store in Tennessee.

Uncle Maddio’s Pizza is opening nearby at 1924 Gunbarrel Road. This franchise coming from Atlanta is for fast and casual family-oriented dining. It will have a buffet and customers will be able to eat in or take out pizza. Beer is expected to be a minimal part of the business.
