Food Preservation Class Offered On 5 Dates At 3 Locations

UT Extension Institute of Agriculture is offering a food preservation class, where participants can learn to safely can and freeze foods.  Topics covered will include jams & jellies, pickling, waterbath, freezing, vegetables, blanching and pressure canner.

Participants will be to choose from five dates and three Chattanooga locations:

June 21 - Crabtree Farms, 1-3 p.m. - must register by June 18
June 21 - Crabtree Farms, 6-8 p.m. - must register by June 18
July 12 - John Patten Rec Center, 6-8 p.
m. - must register by July 9
July 19 - UT Extension Office, 10 a.m.-noon - must register by July 16
July 19 - UT Extension Office, 6-8 p.m. - must register by July 16

Marilyn Lloyd, who represented the Third District in Congress for 10 terms, has died at the age of 89. Ms. Lloyd got into politics after her husband, TV anchor Mort Lloyd, was killed in a plane crash in 1974. Mort Lloyd had won the Democratic primary to oppose Rep. Lamar Baker. A Soddy Daisy couple reported a theft at their residence netted thieves over $56,000 in items. The couple said the thieves may have picked their residence because they posted on Facebook that they were vacationing in Gatlinburg. Michael Lee Leming, 42, has been arrested in the case.
