Glass House Collective Presents: Glass Street LIVE Oct. 8

Tuesday, September 12, 2017

The Glass House Collective will present Glass Street LIVE on Sunday, Oct. 8, from 4-7 p.m.

The fourth annual Glass Street LIVE block party will be at the Dodson Avenue intersection. Activities will include a community parade, live music, a pop-up skate park, gallery by Art Trap Collective, antique car show, local food vendors, a pop-up farm stand, dance competitions, and a chance to participate in temporary crosswalk installations that are colorful, safe, and can be as effective in attracting permanent design improvements as these same tactics were when GHC started work with Better Block at the Chamberlain Avenue and Glass Street intersection four years ago.

Glass House Collective is collaborating with Boyce Station Neighborhood Association and Shannon Burke of Bike Walk Tennessee to host the final neighborhood block party of City Celebration, a city-wide festival focused on alternative transportation methods like biking, skating, and walking.

The parade will be from the East Chattanooga YFD Center to Hardy Elementary School beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Glass House Collective was founded in 2012 to “bring life back to Glass Street and Glass Street back to life” through artist-led and community involved projects. Recent work revolves around gathering creative partners and resources to renew and celebrate life among neighbors in the surrounding community. This block party is a reflection of GHC’s ongoing methods: working together with residents and partners to make Glass Street and the surrounding community cleaner, safer, and more inviting, said officials.
