Local Pediatric Practice Recognized For Quality Improvement Achievements

Monday, September 11, 2017

LifeSpring Pediatrics was recognized for their participation and completion of the first year of the Pediatric Healthcare Improvement Initiative for Tennessee, a statewide quality improvement program of the Tennessee Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, on Aug. 23.

“PHiiT has given us direction and accountability for making important adjustments in our clinic.  It is a boon to have such encouragement and consistent support.  I am sure we would not be making so many good changes without this program. Everyone on the QI team has learned more about making changes in the clinic, and we are grateful,” said Dr. Anna Rose Carlson, pediatrician at LifeSpring.

Officials said, "LifeSpring Pediatrics has focused on improving patient and family care by engaging in quality improvement around care for their asthma patients.  Dr. Anna Rose Carlson, Dr. Michele Pickett, Nurse Lynn Smith, and Office Manager Becca LiCausi reviewed practice data and reports and implemented plans to improve the systems of patient care.

"During this year-long process, the practice worked to improve the health of their asthma patients by implementing spirometry in their clinic.  Through a grant from the Pediatric Health Improvement Coalition, the practice was able to purchase a spirometer.  They received training and worked together as a practice to successfully implement the spirometer into the care provided to their asthma patients.

"The team began their quality improvement work in July 2016 with training and education of physicians, nurses., and administrative staff.  LifeSpring Pediatrics continues their involvement in the PHiiT program as they continue to work on improving asthma care and other pediatric metrics."

Erlanger Is Earning Its Money

First of all, I don’t know what I’m talking about. However, I do have an opinion on the facility based on my past and recent visits thereto. Secondly, if you find yourself at Erlanger for anything other than welcoming a brand new baby or something else that’s happily miraculous, you’ve either done something stupid (me); somebody else did and you’re paying the price, or, God gave ...
