We are now two weeks into the 2017 college football season and I can already tell you two, maybe three teams that will be in the College Football Playoff at the end of the year. Alabama and Clemson, the two teams that have claimed the last two NCAA titles should be shoo-ins for the post season, while second ranked Oklahoma is also a solid choice. Why do you ask? Because Alabama is simply that good and Clemson will be favored in all ten remaining games this year. Oklahoma is solid because of the Sooners huge win at Ohio State last weekend; a game that listed them as a 7.5 point underdog to the Buckeyes. The Sooners won by fifteen. As for that fourth team, there are a bunch of schools who could fill the spot but it is very early with a lot of football to be played.

A few other things I noticed:

Georgia Tech is still a good football team, though the Yellow Jackets struggled in beating tough Jacksonville State 30-7 on Saturday. That double overtime loss to Tennessee on Monday night could have cost them dearly as they were primed for the upset.

Tennessee is 2-0 after a 42-7 win at home over Indiana State. We should find out just how good the Vols are as they prepare to face the Florida Gators this Saturday. There has been some talk about moving the game to Atlanta due to Hurricane Irma. A final decision should be reached by Tuesday.

Clemson may have the very best defense in the country. They totally manhandled a good Auburn squad sacking quarterback Jarrett Stidham 11 times and allowing Auburn only two first half field goals.

Once again Ohio State appears to be overrated. The Buckeyes lost at home to powerful Oklahoma in a game they should have won. Also overrated is quarterback J.T. Barrett.

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield poured salt in the Ohio State wounds by staking the Oklahoma flag in the middle of the field after that huge win. I thought it might draw some ire from the Buckeye fans, but there were none left in the stadium when he did it.

At one time on Saturday the Alabama-Fresno State game was on three different ESPN channels at once. That could have been a nightmare for Tennessee fans trying to find the Vols-Indiana State game.

The Georgia Bulldogs are a very good SEC football team. The Bulldogs win in South Bend over the Fighting Irish is one for the ages, even though the Notre Dame program isn't what it once was. Still, not that many teams can go to South Bend and get a win.

The SEC West may not be as strong as it was 2-3 years ago. Put Alabama in the East and suddenly that becomes the stronger of the two divisions. Here is how I rank the leagues five best teams:
1. Alabama
2. Georgia
3. LSU
4. Auburn
5. Florida or Tennessee
